The ABHA Quality Mark is a certification symbol that assures consumers, distributors, and industry partners of the authenticity and bioactivity of Australian honey. It is available for use on beekeeper and packer packaging once their honey has undergone rigorous testing and verification.

The Australian Bioactive Honey Association is dedicated to scientifically researching, promoting, and educating the public about the diverse bioactive compounds present in Australian honey. We aim to standardize testing protocols to accurately identify these compounds, including but not limited to methylglyoxal (MGO), hydrogen peroxide (TA), leptosperin, antioxidants, enzymes, polyphenols, flavonoids, vitamins, prebiotics, and other identified compounds, and to communicate their distinct health benefits transparently to consumers.
All our activities are grounded in rigorous scientific evidence, ensuring credible and factual information. We promote the consumption of raw Australian honey, highlighting its unique bioactive profile and associated health benefits for consumers, the Australian economy, farmers, and beekeepers.
Furthermore, we advocate for comprehensive testing of imported honey to ensure purity and authenticity, working to eliminate counterfeit, tampered, or adulterated honey, thereby safeguarding both consumers and the integrity of the industry.
